The Dr. Josie Robinson Johnson Legacy Exhibition was a exhibit I curated that was mounted for permanent display in the newly renovated Dr. Josie Robinson Johnson Community Room for Social Justice in the Humphrey School of Public Affairs at the University of Minnesota. The purpose of this exhibition is to open visitors’ eyes to social justice efforts in Minnesota and the world. This room will engage in the struggle for justice, equality, and equal opportunity for African American people. The “Dr. Josie Robinson Johnson Legacy Exhibition” will consist primarily of photographs from local Twin Cities archives along with text that will detail parts of the social justice movements in Minnesota, and work done by the power of young people. Photographs will be used from collections at Anderson Library at the University of Minnesota, Dr. Josie Johnson’s personal collection, the Smithsonian, Library of Congress, Minneapolis Institute of Art and The Star Tribune.
